Special Olympics is a worldwide program of sports training and athletic competition open to individuals with mental disabilities, regardless of their abilities. The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with mental disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympic athletes and the community. Monthly meetings are held on the 2nd Monday of each month at 7:00 pm at the Special Olympics State Office in Frankfort.
